History in a Pint on July 25, 2023

Veterans Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, and the Lake Superior Railroad Museum announce their next event in the local history presentation series, History in a Pint.

The presentation will feature “Medal of Honor Recipient Henry A. Courtney” as told by his nephew historian Court Storey. It will take place in the Lake Superior Railroad Museum at the St. Louis County DEPOT on Tuesday, July 25th at 5:30 pm.

Major Courtney was posthumously awarded the nation's highest honor for valor above and beyond the call of duty. He was bestowed the Medal of Honor for gallantry displayed during action on Okinawa Shima, Ryukyu Islands on May 14 and 15, 1945. His nephew Court Storey will tell the story of his uncle’s life and heroics while serving in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

The History in a Pint program series is presented by Veterans Memorial Hall wherein a veteran, or a veteran’s story, is presented about their experiences serving in the military while guests enjoy a pint of beer or two from some of our local brewers that will be available for purchase. All are welcome to attend, ask questions and join in camaraderie. Attendance is free of charge, but donations are welcomed. Seating will be available.

PARKING: Parking is available around the back of The DEPOT complex. Follow signage to the North Shore Scenic Railway entry; parking is accessible below Michigan St. from 4th Ave. West.
